Hi, Cousin Gregg,
I hope this gets to you because I know you changed your email address. I have some good news, I found them! My descendants, well a few of them. I obtained a Canadian Chart of Colonel Spanish John McDonell and all his descendants to the year 1971, really surprising. They have reunions ever so often and update the clan. My line starts from John McDonell/Janet MacLeod > Colonel Spanish John McDonell/Catherine MacDonald >Deaf Alex McDonell/Janet Cameron > Dougald McDonald/Janet MacCosh >Angus MacDonell/Jane McDonald > James McDonell/Esther Kline > Hugh Angus McDonell/Ethel Carrier > Kenneth McDonell/Barbara Bowers > me.
I was so surprised to find James' Parents. Dougald changed his name to McDonald, I don't know why, and James changed his name from MacDonell to McDonell. I have noticed that there are no MacDonald's in the line other than wife's names. Somehow the Mc and Mac separated themselves from each other.Dougald was born 1797 and died 1885, so the name change had to come within this time frame. I will have to look on Emily Schuler's post as to why the name change. Anyways, I have an Archibald McDonell married to Mary McDonell with a death date of Mary 1836. Mary is the daughter of Colonel Spanish John McDonell, I don't have Archibald's parents. Are you related to Spanish McDonell?
How are things going?
I'm trying to keep cool, 100 degrees and more, I think the USA is in a drought. The crops look fine, lots of corn and soybeans growing, but my poor yard is turning yellow from lack of rain. My town is trying to conserve water. I hope it rains soon. If you want the chart let me know.
Take care,
your cousin
Nancy
