Rev. Allan McDougald was at Old Bluff (and others) Presbyterian Church in Cumberland County, North Carolina 1810 - 1844. Old Bluff was founded by Rev. James Campbell of Kintyre, Philadelphia, and N.C. to serve the Highlanders who settled in the Cape Fear area. A history of the church is at http://www.rootsweb.com/~nccumber/bluffcreek.htm.Rev. Allan McDougald may not have come directly from Scotland, but there are indications that he did. Was he also from Kintyre, as I suspect, or from elsewhere? Rev. Allan McDougald married Catherine McLean and had a son Neil and a daugheter Catharine, who married Hector McLean (son of Daniel McLean and Flora McAllister). I have information from him down through his grand daughter, Isabella McDougald, who was my great grandmother. She was also a descendent of Rev. James Campbell and Neil McNeill of Ardelay in Gigha. Both James Campbell and Allan McDougald are dead ends. Information on either would be appreciated and I'll be happy toshare what I have.
