Thank you for your response. All Interesting. My great grandfather was William McElrea who eloped from Tyrone N.I. around 1840 and settled in Quebec. He was born about 1812. ( We do not have exactdates.) Interesting that he had sons William, Samuel, Robert, & John. william was the youngest & my grandfather. His son Samuel went to Owen Sound, Ontario where he settled and raised a large family ( 11 I believe) The fact that my father always said that his grandfather came from Omagh, certainly indicates some sort of connection.
The cemetery at C. of Ireland in Capagh has some McElreas buried ( Robert & Wiliam as I recall.)
