Danny McFadyen - Gorbals Glasgow 1940's
My grandfather Danny was a man of few words, as was my own father, Neil. I believe that Danny married Margaret in Glasgow in the early 30's. Danny and Margaret has four children, Neil, Margaret, Anne and Alex. Margaret died after Alex was born and I didn't see much of Danny until he was a much older man and even then I only knew him for a short while until I buried him in London Road Cemetery, Glasgow.
The McFadyen children were brought up by their Granny in Ballater St. Gorbals, Glasgow and latterly Maryhill until they all went their separate ways.
I know very little about my family before Danny. I do know he had a brother Neil, or Neilly to his friends, and that Danny worked as a builder in Glasgow for a while before taking to the road after his wife died. I believe he travelled across Speyside? - but this might befamily myth.
Has anyone heard of this branch of the clan at all?
My Dad always spoke about our connection with Mull and that somewhere down the line a McFadyen had to leave for Glasgow for marrying outside his faith.
All communications gratefully received.
