Hi Sharon,
This is a bit delayed, but I found a site about a book called "Carolina Scots", that has a lot of info on families that migrated thru the Cape Fear port. Included in the list of family names is McPhaul. Also check out a site: mcdowellcounty.org and click on a link on the left side "Migrations". Arthur McFalls b. 1828 married my great-grandfathers sister, Hazel Aletha McHone. Happy Hunting, Larry
