Thanks for your response, Larry. I, too, have read "Carolina Scots" but have not been able to connect the John McPhaul family of Hoke County NC in the mid-1700s with my McFalls of Southwestern NC. I am also familiar with your Arthur McFalls, as I beat every McFalls bush I could locate in NC trying to find the parents of my Alney (Allen) B. McFalls, who married Matilda McKinney. The earliest FIRM evidence we have of them is the 1850 Census when they were in Cherokee County NC. Maybe someday some evidence will surface that will yield some "pay dirt". Sharon
