Sherri, old post but found a common mistake in the info that a number of people have made .. Mardina actually is North Carolina ... but since when written it was Ncarolina with the handwriting .. it looks just like Mardina ...write it by putting the NC together then squish the ol together ... I battled that for awhile and then it dawned on me when looking a census for the state ... gee it said Mardina ... but the state ... light bulb !!!
