I have McGarrigles in my ancestry, and in Philadelphia. I presently have Philadelphia City Directories from 1863 to 1883. On my next rip to the Free Library, I plan to get the balance from 1884 through about 1910.
In 1901 there was a Wm. McGARIGLE at 5621 Kenyon (Germantown), and another Wm. J. at 246 Ashmead (Germantown). Note that in the Directory the name is spelled with only one "R". In 1902 there was a Wm. McGARIGLE at 1044 Jackson, and another at 3850 Melon. Again,in the Directory the name is spelled with only one "R". For a long time I was under the assumption that my GGF was William McGarrigle. I never had any luck finding him in the Census. The 1902 City Directory lists my GGM as Amanda McGARRIGLE (widow John). So it looks like I was barking up the wrong family tree. The search begins again, but there is still family lore that there was a William McGarrigle.
