Fulton, Nov. 30: A paralytic stroke last weekend proved fatal to JOHN BERRY MCGEHEE, a resident of south Callaway for many years. Mr. McGehee had been cutting wood all morning at his home in the Dixie neighborhood. About noon he was stricken with paralysis and died a few hours later. He was feeling unusually well up to the time of the fatal stroke. Funeral services were conducted at the Dixie Christian Church and the body was sent to Daviss County, Indiana, his former home, for burial. He was 80 years old. Mr. McGehee was born in Indiana in 1855. Soon after the Civil War, he and his family moved to Missouri. For a number of years, he was a member of the firm of BOGGS and MCGEHEE, which operated saw mill plants in Callaway and Boone Counties. Surviving are his widow, formerly Miss BELLE STEPHENSON, and one brother. The couple had no children.

RENALDA MCGEHEE
Gatesville: RENALDA MCGEHEE, 54, of Gatesville, died Sunday, July 2, 2006, at a Temple hospital. A memorial service will be held Wednesday at Gatesville Revival Center with Bro. JIM BOLING and Rev. WES COVEY officiating. She was born in Belton to ROY LEE and the late GERTRUDE DOSS HOOKER Sr. She lived most of her life in the Gatesville area. She married RICHARD MCGEHEE in Kerrville on October 30, 1967. She was a homemaker and a collector of people. She was a member of the Pentecostal Church. She is survived by her husband, RICHARD E. MCGEHEE Sr.; parents, R. L. “BILL” and BETTY HOOKER; daughter KATREENA AYRES and husband JEFF; sons RICKY MCGEHEE Jr. and wife CHARLA, JOEY MCGEHEE and wife MARISA, BILLY MCGEHEE and wife BOBBIE and SHANE MCGEHEE; sisters VIVIAN MOORE, ALICE BRECKENRIDGE, CONNIE LEE, BELINDA CHASTEEN, THELMA GUMBERT, CHERYLL BAKER, MARY BREASHEARS; brothers, ROY HOOKER Jr., ROBERT BROWN, LARRY BROWN; grandsons, TOBY, CODY, JOE and JAYSON MCGEHEE; granddaughters, JESSICA and JACQUELINE MCGEHEE and ELIZABETH AYRES and numerous beloved children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements are under direction of Gatesville Funeral Home in Gatesville.

J. R. MCGEHEE
Ingram: Services for J. R. MCGEHEE, age 75, of Ingram, who died Friday, March 14, 1997, in a local hospital, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 16, 1997, at the Chapel of Overby Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Nichols Cemetery in Ingram. Revs. CHARLIE BURGIN and D. R. WALKER will be officiating. Mr. McGehee was born on Feb. 20, 1922 in Jones County, Texas to WILLIAM and LENA MCGEHEE. He married ETHEL GUMBERT on Dec. 13, 1942 in Marble Falls, Texas, He served in the Army during WWII. He was a member of the V.F.W. in Kerrville.
Mr. McGehee was pastor of the Ingram Pentecostal Church on and off for 20 years. He was a lifelong resident of the Hill Country. He is survived by his wife, ETHEL MCGEHEE of Ingram; five sons, JIMMIE LEE MCGEHEE of Ingram, WILLIAM WEST MCGEHEE of Sandia, WILLIE GENE MCGEHEE of Ingram, CECIL RAY MCGEHEE of Kerrville, and RICHARD EDWARD MCGEHEE of Gatesville, Texas; one daughter, KATIE CATHELINE LOWRANCE of Ingram; three sisters, IMA GENE COLEMAN of Kerrville, MINNIE LEE GUMBERT of Ingram, and LILLIAN GRUMBLES of Mount Pleasant, Texas; one brother LOYD H. MCGEHEE of Idabel, Oklahoma; 19 grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and seven step-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two great-great-grandchildren.
