William Owen(s) - William McGee (McGhee) mid-1800s Smith co TN

Can anyone identify the William Owen next door to William McGee in the 1840 Smith Co TN census? I believe the McGee, and possibly the Owen, to be my ancestors.

My ancestor James W(illiam) McGee inherited part-interest in some Smith Co TN land from a William Owen(s) -- possibly Owens was McGee's grandfather. (Other names involved with McGee Smith co land are McGee sisters Mary M and Martha J; John and Thomas Snoddy; and Littleton Cheatham Fiveash). The land would have been in the Dixon Springs area.

This line of McGee (sometimes spelled McGhee, McGehee, or other variations) had moved to Gallatin & White Co IL beginning in early 1800s.

The absence of early marriage records for Smith Co Tn really hampers my search. However, some McGee and Owen wills (from book, Index to Early Tennesee Wills & Administrations) may make it possible for an Owen researcher to identify the McGee-Owen connection.

Early Smith co Wills --
Owen -- John, 1825; John 1826
Owens -- William 1808; Samuel 1831
McGee -- Elizabeth 1828 (is she an Owen/Owens? And Elizabeth Magee near Mary Owens 1830 census); James 1819 (related deed from Margaret Isham to orphans William, Jesse, and Isaac M McGhee of land 'formerly said to be John Owens) ; James 1830; (there are also two Georges - 1821 & 1831 -- but James & William are the names in my line).

Hope some Owen(s) researcher will be able to find the connection between these families. Thank you!
