Judith,

Your John H McGhee family is on p 131B of the Enterprise twp, Linn Co MO census dtd 11 June 1900 with Opal being the youngest child. Living next to John H age 41,is James W? McGhee age 51 and his family, and next door to him is Benjamin McGhee age 47 and his family. They all show they are born in MO with father born in VA and mother in KY.

In 1880 living in Enterprise twp, Linn Co MO are the McGhee families of Andrew age 26, Benjamin 27, James 31 with John H living with him shown as his brother. They all now show they were born in MO, father and mother born in KY. (Sorry, I didn't write the page number down, but as I remember they are all on the same page again. Go to ancestry.com image 4 of 14.) In 1860 Twp 59, Range 19, Linn Co MO, post office Enterprise, p 65 is Elizabeth McGee age 33 $2,400 real property and $302 personal, born in KY with James W 11, Amanda J 9, Benjamin F 9, Andrew H 5, John H 1, all born in MO. The 1850 Dist 50, Linn Co MO census shows John Magee age 30, farmer $200 real property born KY, Elizabeth 23 b KY, James W 1 b MO.

Hope this helps some, at least a place to start...there's only about a million John Magee/McGee/McGhee's b abt 1820 to wade through, and a whole bunch that were born in KY & married an Elizabeth. Hopefully, someone else will find a connection and let you know.

Florence
