Samuel McGill of South Carolina
Posted by: Iris Burnell (ID *****5049) Date: January 12, 2011 at 12:45:44
  of 1607

I have encountered several Samuel McGills. My Samuel arrived in Charleston in 1766, received Bounty Land in 1780 and payed off his endenture in 1786. I have all of these documents. We always thought he married Elizabeth Gambrell or Gamble based on marriage in Charleston in 1767.
But now--a Cox family is claiming she married a Cox, and had children by him. However, some McGill family histories show her having McGill children AFTER the Cox children. Is this Elizabeth the same person? Do we have the right Samuel? Our Samuel ended up in Pendleton Co where all his ancestors come from, including my Grandmother, Nettie Josephine McGill. Can anyone help?
