Tim - thank you for the quick reply and the sister named Mary or Maria makes sense since George and Mary Gannon names repeat 2 generations later. My grandmother Mary McGill and her line are sketchy. I don't understand how a Pennsylvania girl got mixed up with my Irish grandfather. I think I may have the wrong Mary McGill - I know that there was a famine-provoked Scot migration to Ireland in the 17th century. There is also the question of religion. My father claimed that they were all Catholic going back.

George Redwood Gannon was born on 21 Feb 1881 in Strokstown, Roscommon, Ireland of parents Thomas Redwood Gannon (who was born in St Pancras, England on 15 April 1857; M:? Died: 13 Nov 1917 in Bristol, England)and Mary Ellen Jordan (who was born in May 1856 in Pennsylvania; Married: ? Death" ?)

George Redwood Gannon (b1881) married Mary Mc Gill (Born: 1881 Pensylvania: Married ? Died: ?) had 3 children as follows:
First born: George Redwood Gannon Born: 15 Mar 1908 in N Pelham, NY. Married: Elizabeth Cole. Born 1906; Died: 22 March 1995 in Butte, Montana.
2nd child: Anita Claire Gannon Born: 27 Jul 1912 in Mount Vernon, NY; Married: various Died: 31 May 1987 in Monterey, CA
3rd born was my father, William Victor Gannon. Born: 18 June 1919 in N Pelham, NY. Married: July 1947 and Feb 1969. Died: 24 Feb 1989 in Pacific Grove, CA.

Believe that George R Gannon or Thomas R Gannon may have spent time in Scotland. This is based on an old studio photo of my father in a kilt; he was merhant marine during WWII and traveled all over.

I am still new at this and have come late to the game as all parents are dead. I appreciate any info that will lead me to finding Mary A McGill who married George Redwood Gannon around 1907.
Thank you in advance.
