I am seeking information on the origins of Captain William McGill. He was married to Margaret (Henderson?) and had three sons, William H. (my line) James and Helm. His estate was located in what is now Jefferson Borough Allegheny County PA and was called Gill Hall (circa 1780) and the town still bears the name. His land grant was in all likelihood a Virginia Land Grant under Yohogania County that was formed from Augusta County VA in 1776. I am very interested in finding who his parents were and where he came from. Also I am interested in finding if there is a relationship between his naming his estate Gill Hall and the Makgill estate in Dromore County Down Ireland that is named the same.
