I am interested in all spellings of McGimpsey's and where they lived before Scotland. Joe McGimsey.

Mary McJimsey/Scotland/late 1800's: From McJimsey Forum

This is my GGrandmother. My grandfather, Daniel Silcose, has this name listed as his mother and John Hans listed as his father on his SS application. It also says that my he(my Grandfather) was born in Motherwell Scotland, on May 25, 1903. It looks like he wrote his mothers last name as Hamilton and then crossed it out and put McJimsey. I don't know why. I have heard that he got his last name from his stepfather, Which may have been Silcox or some variation of that spelling. Also that he left about 16 or 17 brothers and sisters back in Scotland. Any McJimseys out there who know of her?
