Wanda, I have been trying to connect my 1770 McGimpseys in America with ancestors living in Ireland and Scotland at that time.

I have been told that our ancestors came to America from Loughriescouse,Townland, that is just outside of Newtownards. Also that our ancestor sailed from Glasgow, Scotland and never lived in Ireland.

My info says that they lived in Scotland for many years but moved to Ireland from about 1700-1741. Then in 1770 some McGimpseys moved from Ireland to York County, PA.

Anything you or anybody can add will be appreciated.

Joe McGimsey
