Robert McJimsey, a merchant and stockbroker in NYC, purchased Vault 43 in the New York Marble Cemetery in 1831. The Cemetery is searching for heirs and descendants to this vault. McJimsey is known to have had two unmarried sons survive him: Robert M. McJimsey 1835-1883 and Eugene McJimsey 1836-1899. Because all remains were removed in 1878 and the family has not contacted the Cemetery since that time, the Cemetery is considering applying for reacquisition of the McJimsey vault. Anyone having knowledge of this family, particularly of persons with an ownership interest in it, is requested to contact the Cemetery.
Robert McJimsey was the son of the Rev. John McJimsey & Ann Wilkin of Neelytown, NY. His first wife was Harriet Hoyt, 1790-1832; his second wife was Eliza Ann Keese, 1817-1876.
Thank you for your help.
