I have some interesting news for you. My husband is Ian McGimpsey. His father is David McGimpsey. His grand father was Alexander McGimpsey. His great grand father was Samuel McGimpsey. His great great grandfather was Hugh McGimpsey. He was a blacksmith at Drumawhey, Newtownards. Apparently he was married twice and the McGimpseys from Bangor were from his 1st marriage. My Husband is decended from the second marriage. We are now living in the same house that Hugh lived in and the old Smitty is just down the lane.We still have an elderly Aunt living who has given us this information. We have renovated the house and whilst doing so we found a large hole in one of the walls and apparently it was used to store the pikes made at the time of the Betsy Gray uprising. I think there must be some connection through your Great grandfather. Annie
