Hi Anne,

You seem to have a good history of your line of McGimpsey's. I am wondering if your records or anyone in your family know of McGimpsey's that went to America in 1770 - 1775 to Pennsylvania.
My 4th Great Grandfather was Dr. William McGimpsey. Possible brothers were John & Robert. A sister Jane. I believe other brothers & sisters were still in Newtownards, County Down at the time.
I understand that Movilla Cemetery in Newtownards has some old tombstones. Have you visited this Cemetery and recorded the names? If you have I would be interested in old dates of any William's, John,s or Robert's.
One of my family line distant cousins hired someone in the 1950's that did some research and concluded that our line went back to David McGimpsey (spelled McGympsey & McGimsie in Scotland) It was said that some McGimpsey's left County Down in the 1500's and went to the Edinburgh, Scotland area and most returned to their ancestral home in the 1700's. With David McGimpsey being one of them in 1740. First wife was Mary Leckie. Second wife was Anna Muschett.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
