Hi Jennifer,
Thanks for your follow-up.Turns out I had the dates all wrong on my original post.Thomas McGinnis, according to various census records, was born around 1823 in PA.I have since confirmed that he was married to Sarah Barker, born around 1833 in Butler County. And I found a census record for Thomas in 1850 living with his mother Elizabeth McGinnis (widowed) in East Deer, Allegheny County.A number of his siblings are listed, including Martha, Eliza, Elmira, Cyrus and Franklin. One researcher believes his mother Elizabeth's maiden name was Horton.
But, I am still stuck on Thomas' father.I saw that your James Johnson McGinnis had a son named Thompson, which got my attention as a possible connection.According to your records, Thompson was born 1833.But James Johnson McGinnis' wife was named Christina. So probably not the same folks. But they could certainly be related somehow.I will keep digging.
Thanks again for sending me the link to your McGinnis tree.Hopefully I can find a connection.

But here's something interesting. After my Thomas died, his widow Sarah moved to Venango County (listed there in 1910)
