There are a number of Tom, Thomas McGintys in our lineage.
And all the Thomas McGintys I know were and are from the
Conway/Faulkner Co. Ar. area beginning with Thomas B. b.1844
in Conway Co. Ar. to Joseph Jackson and Emily Scroggins
McGinty. D. 2/26/1916 at McGintytown, Ar. and is buried in
the McGinty Cemetery in that community.
That Thomas B. McGinty was married 1. to Elizabeth Hammers
of Conway Co. Ar. on Oct. 13, 1862. Elizabeth Hammers
McGinty cannot be found after Thomas B. enlisted in the
Arkansas Cavalry in May 1863. Thomas B. suffered frost bite
of ears and feet in the Winter of 1863-64 and was discharged
and sent home. He met and married a Miss Tarkington of
Faulkner Co. Ar. on 12/25/1864. Thomas B. recovered from
his frost bit ears and feet then reenlisted in the Arkansas
Cavalry and served thye remainder of the Civil War and was
discharged and sent home. The Miss Tarkington he married
on 12/25/1864 bore Thomas a daughter named Elizabeth. He
and Mary L. (Miss Tarkington) were expecting another child
and something happened for Mary L. died in childbirth and
so did the baby. Then Thomas B. later married Mary L.'s
sister Loueazer Catherine on 12/24/1866 and they had eight
children who lived long lives.
One of Thomas B. and Loueazer Catherine's sons, Felix
Franklin McGinty (my Grandfather) and wife Gennie Kennedy
McGinty had a son named Thomas (Tom) McGinty. Now that son
Thomas (Tom) was a travelling man. He was a musician and
saw a lot of the USA in his time.
I doubt that any of the Thomases above match the Tom you
are looking for but, who knows?
