Robert,
It is my understanding that Eli H. who wrote letters to his HALF-BROTHER was probably Eli Hood who lived in MS all of his life from what I can tell.

Our Eli McGinty lived and died in Commanche, TX and was born in AR. The letters Ruth had were from Eli to his UNCLE Thomas had to have been from our Eli (the ages of children fit all the way down the line).

That means that our Eli must have been a grandson of Joseph and a nephew to Thomas (your Gr Greandfather).

I am interested in the information on the two McGinty's that served and died in the Civil War. One of them may, indeed, be his father. I have long thought that Eli may have been a son of Robert Newton McGinty. I have wondered what happen to he and his wife since they are in the 1850 census but not the 1860 in AR.

As I said, Eli appears to live with the Bradfords and the connection to the McGinty's seems to lay credence to that thought.

Could I, perhaps, get copies of the letters from Eli in Commanche to Thoams? Ruth merely sent me a synopsis of the contents. I would pay for the copying fees.

Thanks so much for giving us some more places to look.
Regards,
Annemarie
