My Grand Father Frank McGinty told me back in the late 1930s that his GF Joseph McGinty came to AR up the MS River and the AR River on a steam boat. Joseph and family got off the boat somewhere near the Cadron Settlement. The Cadron Settlement was located at the confluence of the AR River and the Cadron Creek about five miles West of present day Conway, AR. My GF Frank's brother Theordor told me in 1972 that his father, Thomas McGinty was born near the forks of the two Cadrons (North Cadron & East Cadron) located about three miles SW of Wooster, AR. We don't know when Joseph McGinty came to AR from MS but, land records show he was living in Conway CO. AR in 1842 as was his son Robert Newton. We have census records that say Thomas McGinty was born in 1844 and from personal testimony by Theordor McGinty at the "Forks of the Cadrons) Thomas died Feb. 26, 1916 and is buried in the McGinty Cemetery McGintytown, AR.
