Thanks for your note! While EVELAND/EPHLAND/EFLAND is, in fact, a primary name in my tree, MCGOWAN may be...and it is a prime "suspect" in solving my #1 "brick wall".I believe (as in, no proof so far) my great great grandmother is Eliza H. (MCGOWAN) WILSON.According to the census materials I could find, she was born March 30 1835 in Fleming County, Kentucky; the daughter of William and Emily (BINGHAM) MCGOWAN (both born in KY and died in Illinois).Eliza has a sister, Margaret Ann, who was born in Fleming County about 1841.Eliza married John WILSON (b. 1821 in Yorkshire, England).Eliza came to Illinois with her parents.John immigrated to Illinois apparently to be near his brother, Richard, and sister, Elizabeth. My great grandfather (and namesake), Thomas Edward WILSON, was born Aug 4 1865 in Morgan County, Illinois, the last of 6 children of John and Eliza.Shortly after he was born, the family moved to Missouri.Within a year after that move, John died...followed by Eliza, a few months later. As the story goes, all 6 children were "farmed out" to surviving aunts, uncles and cousins; of those 6, I can only track 3 of them.Any help you can provide in validating Eliza H. MCGOWAN WILSON as the wife of John WILSON would be much appreciated! Thanks!
