Mass for John G. McGrail, 90, a retired Chicago Transit Authority bus driver, will be said at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Giles Catholic Church, 1045 N. Columbian Ave., Oak Park. Mr. McGrail, who came to this country from Ireland in 1915, died Monday in his Oak Park home. After serving with the U.S. Army in World War I, he became a conductor for the Chicago Surface Lines and spent 44 years with the transit company and its successor, the CTA. Mr. McGrail is survived by his wife, Margaret; 3 sons, John, Frank and Larry; a daughter, Maureen Powers; 18 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and 2 sisters

Deceased Name: John McGrail
John McGrail, 90, a retired streetcar conductor and CTA bus driver, died Monday in his Oak Park home after a long illness.
Mr. McGrail moved here from Ireland in 1915 and served in the U.S. Army during World War I. He spent the following 44 years as a conductor for the Chicago Surface Lines and as a CTA bus driver.
He was a member of American Legion Post 1216 and the Ancient Order of Hibernians.
Surviving are his wife, Margaret; three sons, John, Frank and Larry; a daughter, Maureen Powers; 18 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, and two sisters.
Mass is being offered at 10 a.m. today in St. Giles Church, Oak Park. Interment will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery, Hillside.
