Judy, I am also looking for McGraws in Jefferson Co., AL around the 1900 year. Here is what I know now. My grandmother, Frances Bell Cox married a John McGraw. They apparently lived around the Birmingham area around 1890-1900 since the obituary of one of their children noted that he was born near Birmingham, AL. Their three known children were: Robert E., born 25 Jul 1889; Edward Carroll, born 27 Feb. 1892; and Estelle, born 28 Dec. 1895. Robert died in Coosa Co., AL in 1936; Edward died in Phenix City, AL in 1960.I have been unable to find out what happened to John McGraw or his daughter, Estelle. I do know that in 1900 John's wife, Frances Bell Cox McGraw was married to my grandfather, John Robert McCollister. The McCollisters lived a portion of their life in and died at Village Springs, Blount Co., AL. Too, I believe all three of the McGraw children were put up for adoption between 1895 and 1900. I do know that Estelle was adopted by Dr. William L. May of Jefferson Co., AL. He was the medical doctor for the old PRACO mines in Birmingport. Also, I have info. that Estelle married a C. O. or C. D. Young and lived all of her life in the Bham. area. So, I hope this might help you in your research.Too, I would appreciate any help you might lend to my work.
