My husband's greatgrandfather was Nicholas J. McGree b: 25 March 1827 in Kilkenny County, Ireland. He married Mary Collins b: 8 Sept. 1836 in Kilkerrin, County Galway, Ireland. They married in 1860. They left Ireland and finally ended up living in Marshan Township, near Hastings, Minnesota.
They both died of a fever that swept the area in 1889.
I have a data base of McGree's/Magree's that I received from a Melvin Magree. It is the same data base I read when I was in Kilkenny, Ireland last October. If you are interested it this let me know. I find it difficult to read and understand.
Most McGree's/Magrees came from County Kilkenny and many left for Australia and the United States. It is an uncommon name and I do not see it very often in surname searches.
