Frank was robbed and killed by three men at his barbecue stand on the McKeesport-Irwin Road outside of McKeesport, Pennsylvania on 27 Feb 1931. He was shot with his own gun and robbed of $8. The three men were convicted and sentenced to life in prison. 10 years later another man confessed to being one of the 3. One of the original convictions was in error. The wrongly convicted man was set free. 20 years after that, the governor of PA pardoned the remaining prisoners.
