As to the parents of James McHale: James and Margaret Murphy McHale were also the parents of Thomas, b.Sept1876. Thomas married Margaret Ford, who was my g grandmother's sister. I am also interested in James and Margaret because James was a brother of my g grandmother Alice Lavin Loftus. Alice's mother was Ann McHale(died 4-15-1905), brother of James. I have a list of the other siblings, not in order of birth: Richard, Patrick, John, Biddie, who married______ Ruane, Onnie, who married John O'Hara' and hannah who married _______ Troy. Biddie died on March 16, 1915 "on South Valley Avenue, at the home of her sisiter Mrs. John O'Hara. She came to Olyphant,as one of its first settlers, from county Sligo, over 50 yrs ago (Scranton Republican, 3-29-1915)." I sent for a death certificate, and the part listing the names of her parents is very hard to read. Significantly, though, the maiden name of mother is ", meaning "same as above, or same as husband." What I plan on doing is finding the date of death of mrs. John O'Hara, and sending for a death certificate. Additionaly, I take the mention of sligo as a place of birth to be a plus, because Ann Lavin McHale was "from Ballina" and this could well mean the family came from Killmoremoy Parish, which was a paert of Sligo but is now part of Mayo. Any thoughts? Thomas loftus
