Marnie
I wonder if you have researched the ancestors or siblings of your Myles McHale at all? I'm interested in the various relatives of Archbishop John MacHale, who had a brother called Myles born around 1787. Their parents were Patrick MacHale and Mary Mulchiarain. Patrick's father was also called Myles MacHale, born around 1726 (+/- 6 years), so Myles seems a favourite name in this family. However these two Myles seem to have been born too early to be 'your' Myles. Incidently, my information came from the excellent book on John MacHale written by Hilary Andrews "Lion of the West", mentioned a few years ago on this thread by her sister. My interest, like many others, is because there is a belief in my wife's family that a Mary MacHale (b circa 1840) was a first cousin to Archbishop John MacHale, but so far I have not been able to establish the connection.
