I have a Mary MacHale who was also related to the archbishop. She married James Tighe in Mayo (Kilcommon Parish possibly) and they came to Canada in the late 1840s but he did not survive the trip. I was interested in the mention of the name Myles because this name turns up in my family too. My assumption was my Mary was the daughter of one of the two brothers of the archibishop who had daughters and sons. It seems that he was willing to help his relatives leave Ireland and go where they could more easily practice Catholicism. Mary and James had seven children but I only know the names of four daughters: Dorothy, Mary, Ann, and Jane. Mary's brother John MacHale also came with the family to Canada and he was a music professor. They lived in Frontenac County in Ontario and later moved to Michigan to Mount Pleasant in Isabella County.
