Archbishop John McHale's parents were my great great grandparents.
My paternal grandfather, Captain Timothy O'Boyle married Annie melvin in 1870. Her mother was Bridgid Mchale married to a Patrick Melvin who was harbour master in Ballina, Co,Mayo. Bridgid's father was padraig Mor, (Big Patrick Mc hale married to Mary Mulkiernan, the Archbishop's parents.
Annie,(my grandmother was born on March 31 1852 and married grandfather Timothy O'Boyle November 29 1870. They live on Rutland island, Donegal and had eleven children, my father, Bernard being the youngest born November 1, 1893.
another decendent of the McHales was Auxilliary Bishop Thomas Gill of Seatle 1955-1973.
Hope you find this interesting. Please let me know if you have any further details.
