Do you descend from the McHale family? I descend from Mary McHale who was a niece to the archbishop. She had a brother John who was a music teacher or music professor. They migrated to Canada and lived in the Quebec mission for awhile when they first came in about 1848. I assumed that the archbishop arranged for the bishop in Quebec to help them get settled. The family legend is that he also bankrolled the move for Mary and her family. Mary McHale was married to James Tighe and he died on the crossing to Canada. Mary had seven children but I can only account for four daughters: Mary (Michael Haley), Dorothea (Thomas Judge), Anne (James Jordan), and Jane (Captain John Troy). Mary eventually moved with her orphaned Troy granddaughters to Winn, Michigan in Isabella County where she lived with her daughter Dorothea Judge, her husband Thomas Judge and their twelve children. John McHale also moved to the Judge household. Also in this area were the Kanes and they are intermarried with the Judges. The Tighes and Judges were in Frontenac/Leeds Counties in Canada prior to moving to Michigan.
I do not know which brother would have been my Mary's father but narrowing it down, it must be Thomas or Edward. Does anyone know the names of their wives?
