I don't have any firm dates, but can anyone help. I'm trying to find Mary McHale (or McCale) and James Rafferty in Armagh around the 1900's.
James was born in Armagh. Mary was born in Ireland (poss Armagh)
They were married in Otley, Yorkshire.
Mary's mother was an O'Reilly, and was reputedly governess to Sir John French's children. Her family were reputedly landowners who were exiled to America and the land confiscated.
Mary McHale had 2 sisters, Anna and Kate. One of the stories is that her father was a ships chandler who went to America, his brother was killed in a knife fight in New Orleans. Does any of this sound familiar.
