McHale Family Genealogy Forum

Definitely think i have some useful info for you. My name is John Madden from Ballycastle, Co. Mayo and i was looking for info on a McHale lady (nee Madden) who was my g g aunt. She emigrated to Seattle around 1900 as a Madden. Don't know anymore.
As for your story:
Looking for connections with Thomas McHale m Bridget Belle born in Doonfeeney, County Mayo d. 1912 and lived in Jessup, PA=near Scranton.
Well Doonfeeney is now considered to be part of Ballycastle. Ballycastle was originally formed of 2 townlands called Doonfeeney and Kilbride but they were merged an named Ballycastle about 200 years ago. There are only 2 McHale families left in Ballycastle to my knowledge. There is only 1 family of Belles in Ballycastle, 2 brothers around 50 years of age living together ( i think the spelling should be Bell). The remains of the original Bell holding still stands, about .5 miles from the Doonfeeney church, now a graveyard.
Have other sketchy info on the McHales but no time at the moment, hope this helps.
