My grandfather, Audrey Cleo McIntosh (1902-1999) always said that his grandfather founded the McIntosh apple.
The only ancestry of my grandfather that I know is that his grandfather was James D McIntosh born in NY or Canada in 1854/5 (& that his father was John?).James D is documented by Marriage certificate & Census in Keokuk Co., Iowa.
I would like to work down from Alexander.The Fruit & Vegetable Growers Association of Ontario sent the McIntosh Family lineage to my mother 10 years ago.
ALEXANDER emigrated about 1776 to Mohawk Valley of NY state
Youngest son, JOHN, born there 1777; 1796 went to Canada.His son, ALLAN, took over the business;
John's youngest son was, "SANDY THE GRAFTER".
Allan's youngest son, HARVEY(1863-1940)continued the nursry
Harvey's only son, ALLAN, took over the business in 1940.
Do you have more of this family tree?Would appreciate any help.
