McIntosh family (Detroit from Canada about 1878)

1880 census shows names as MacIntosh...
father Charles McIntosh b.1830 in Scotland, mother Catherine b.1832 Vermont. All children born in Canada: Charles A. b.1854, John L.R. McIntosh b.1856, Anna A. b. 1858, William S. b. 1861, Murray G. b. 1864, Peter F. b. 1868.

I believe John Lamont McIntosh to be my grandfather born in Goderich, Ontario. Know John and Murray (M.G.) both to be steamboat captains on the Great Lakes. Know "Annie" to be a nun. Came to Detroit about 1878 or 1879.

Appreciate any further information
