Mc Intosh sisters/Endinburgh
Posted by: Karen Mihok (ID *****6925) Date: October 31, 2010 at 15:38:44

I am looking for information on a Mc Intosh family, originally from the Highlands, but migrated to Edinburgh. There were six sisters, whose father I believe to be named Allan,(possible spouse, Jane Aitchison). He apparently owned a bookstore near the university. His brother may have been involved in it too.

I know of three sisters, Jane, B 1832,(my great great grandmother),who married Wm Brown, a dried goods merchant, Harriet who married Richard Williams, and Margaret, B 1838, married James Stephen Forbes. It has been said all sisters married professors, except my gggrandmother. Margaret,Jane, Harriet's, husband and their two girls all died during an epidemic. Harriet raised my ggrandmother and Margaret's two children.

Any help would be so appreciated! Karen
