John McIntosh of Copiah County, Mississippi
Posted by: Wayne Jones (ID *****5542) Date: December 02, 2010 at 19:37:18

Seeking information on a John McIntosh of Copiah County Mississippi. He married a Martha Morgan (daughter of William Morgan) on February 6, 1851 in Copiah County. I believe that he died during the War Between the States as I have found his widow (M. McIntosh) and their three children (William David);Mary "Mollie" McIntosh and Laura McIntosh on the 1870 Census for Catahoula, Parish Louisiana (but M. McIntosh is head).

I don't know if John served in a Louisiana unit or a Mississippi unit during the War Between the States.

Have also found William Morgan on the 1860 Census of Catahoula Parish Louisiana.

I suspect that these two families might have moved from Mississippi to Louisiana shortly before the War Between the States but I can not find John McIntosh or his family on the 1860 Census.

William David McIntosh married Louisa Jane Coward.

Mary "Mollie" McIntosh married Willis F. Greene.

Laura McIntosh married Frank McKinney.

Mary "Mollie" McIntosh is my GGG Grandmother.

Any information on John McIntosh would be most appreciated.

Sincerely,

Wayne Jones
Tyler, Texas
