Donald McIntosh 1780 Rannoch Scotland -1842 N.S Canada

My ancestors have passed down through the generations quite a number of family items, and the records passed along from my great grandfather list "Donald McIntosh" as being born in Rannoch, Pershire, Scotland in 1780, and passing in Pictou, Nova Scotia Canada.

I would like to find more information on Donald, preferable to find out when he came to Nova Scotia and when he left Scotland. Since the records in NS do not show up, there is a chance that he came north from first landing in America?

His son was Duncan McIntosh born 1823 in West River, Nova Scotia and I have a number of family papers confirming his dates etc. Donald's wife was Christie Fraser 1804 - 1897 born in Nova Scotia.

I've been stuck for quite some time. If anyone could provide a clue, it would be greatly appreciated.
