Hi Donna,
It was really great to hear from you! My grandfather Archie McKechnie (1902-1991) told me "Hec" went out west. He didn't say where and I'm pleased to find this connection. Dougald, Hector's brother was my great grandfather. I remember him. I looked up the family farm in Glenelg last fall and the current owner, Rick Drummond was excited to meet me. In the 50's, the owner at that time constructed a frontier ghost town (think of the set of "High Noon")It is quite popular as a dude ranch and on some summer weekends, a retreat for motorcycle clubs. I would be happy to share my info on our family. I also have many photos scanned.
By the way, my mother's name is Donna and my grandmother's name is Vera. I didn't know John was called "Jack" He was referred to as "Johnnie Look up " because he was exceptionally tall. I'll send you a photo when I have your email address. Dougal, in contrast, was about 5' 4" tall.
I would have been calling you soon as my daughter Erin and son Stewart Christopher were recently in Calgary to visit their grandparents; she brought me a copy of the whitepages listings.
