Robert McKechnie--71st Foot Regiment

This week after years of brick walls I got the discharge papers for my 3X grandfather Robert McKechnie who was born about 1803 in Belfast Ireland . He joined the Army in Glasgow in June 1826 and served with the 71st Highlanders a light Infantry regiment for 22 years--Bermuda in 1833 to 1834 and was in Canada in Montreal,Quebec and Kingston, Ontario fighting in a war against the Papineau Rebellion 1837/38. He was granted his discharge from the army in 1847 in Kingston, Ontario and I have found him in the 1851 Canada census as being 68, this is an error in recording as he would be 48 at this time. Children that I know of are: William born July 1832 in Dundee Scotland, James A. born<1842> Canada, Rose born <1848> Canada and a son C.W. born about 1850 in Canada. William married Mary Bell in Kingston in 1852 and one of their many children was my greatgrandmother Hellen Agnes McKechnie(Nellie / Ellen), other siblings were : Robert Edward, William Cecil, John Albert Lincoln, Frederick, Margaret Elizabeth, Edith Maud Hay Lilian and Mary Victoria. Anyone with connections to this family please contact me at my e-mail: lance14@mts.net as I have more information on many of these people. If you can connect my Robert McKechnie (1803 Ireland) with any of your family I really want to talk to you. This name is in four or five descendant lines. Thank-you, Wendy
