William McKechnie, pensioner, lived at 9 or 11 Alton Street, Belfast in the 1860s. Listed in 1861 Belfast directory.

William's daughter Isabella McKechnie, age 22, married George Stewart MacKay in Glasgow in 1869, had a child Agnes and died in 1870. Her mother's name was Margaret Ann Brierley. Her address on marriage certificate was Alton Street.

William's daughter Margaret McKechnie married Joseph McMeekan.

Buried in the same plot in Castlereagh Presbyterian Graveyard, County Down:
Isabella, wife of George Stewart MacKay
"sister" Margaret, wife of Joseph McMeekan
Joseph McMeekan
(Isabella died 1870, age 23, and Margaret died 1916, age 72.)

I ordered the discharge papers of William McKechnie, 1st Regiment of Foot (Royal Scots). He was born in 1809 in Paisley, Scotland, enlisted in 1829 in Newry, Ireland, and was discharged in 1846. However, I now think that I have the wrong discharge papers! There may be 2 (or 3) different Williams. (A William McKechnie, pensioner but also bachelor, married Anne Norwood in 1846 in Belfast.)
