Would like to hear from any descendants of this family: Joseph Ray McKee 21 Oct 1889 - 27 Nov 1967 Died at Roosevelt, Duchesene, Utah married Viola Ruth McConkie Born 28 Jan 1897 at Moab, Grand, Utah Joseph McKee's parents were William McKee, born 24 Feb 1857 at Spanish Fork Utah, and Emily Aurillia Markham born 4 Jan 1864 at Spanish Fork Utah. Joseph's grandparents were William McKee born 7 Oct 1825 at Slippery Rock, Butler Co PA and Sarah Ann Hodgson born 1832 Halifax, Leeds, Yorkshire, England Joseph's great grandfather was DAVID DANIEL MCKEE born LEGIONIER, WESTMORELAND CO PA ON 10 JAN 1796 AND DIED 1 MAY 1847 AT MT PISGAH, UNION, IOWA. DAVID MARRIED MARY TWEED MCMILLIAN WHO WAS BORN 1 JUNE 1795 AT WESTMORELAND, PA AND DIED 14 NOV 1851 AT COUNCIL POINTS, POTTAWATTAMIE, IOWA. Joseph's great-great grandfather was THOMAS MCKEE BORN 1749 AT SAINTFIELD, COUNTY DOWN, NORTH IRELAND who married MARTHA HOGG , BORN 17 DEC 1759 AT TUSCARORA VALLEY, JUNIATA, PA. BOTH DIED AT BUTLER, BUTLER CO PA. Joseph McKee's 3x grandfather was James or David McKee of County Down and 4x grandfather was James McKee born 1795 at Lisban, Ireland .................................................. The above is not my work. Sorenson participants names are not given out but you can search the results. I cannot verify the above in any manner. ........................................................ From the Sorenson (SMGF) data base of Y DNA participants there are three surnamed MCKEE. From running searches of my husband's (Doug McKee) FTDNA Y DNA markers with those SMGF Y DNA McKee markers there is proof of kinship by bloodline. There is also Y DNA evidence of the bloodline kinship of Mark McKee and another McKee from our McKee Group FTDNA database with the Saintfield, County Down, Norhern Ireland McKee Family. ....................................................... The degree of kinship would go back aways, I have not figured that out, the paper trail has to be figured out from Mark McKee back to Ireland as does my husband's paper trail. Also, the other participant in the FTDNA McKee Group who is only known to me by a number. If your paperwork lineage goes with the same McKee in Ireland and you have male McKee who would have the Y DNA test you should be able to prove your kinship beyond a doubt. This is certain to create interest here I would think, both nay sayers and those interested in the progression of the search back in time. Any help and suggestions are welcome.
