Yes, you're right. My dad is Jack. I have a brother, Hollis, who is married and lives in Plano, with his wife and two kids. I have three kids, and we (wife Rhonda, daughters Meaghan, 9, Anderson, 2, and son Brooks, 6) live in Houston. I am an attorney and Rhonda works with BankOne as a broker.
Now, Grandpa A.A. died November 1, 1935 at the age of 77. I have a copy of his death certificate and a picture. I also have met a number of our cousins over in Louisiana, most being sons of Reuben. They have a reunion every October and Mamaw (Virgie) and I went over there last year (2000) but did not go this year. We will go again in 2002.
I will pick up a book later today on the McKeithens put together by Mary Mitchell (now deceased) and her daughter, Beth Connors who lives in Brooklyn, N.Y.
Will advise later today or tomorrow of the names of all of your uncles and aunts by Grandpa's first marriage.
I am not sure as I sit here of the exact date he came to Texas, but he was a widower with a large number of kids. After marrying Grandmother Fannie Elizabeth Watson, he had three more, of which you are aware (Jewel, Frank and Virgie). That made 11 total for him. He himself was one of eleven, most of whom died in the Civil War.
When we went to the reunion, the oldest guy there was an Uncle, I forget now his name, who was Reuben's oldest boy. Because of the second family thing with Grandpa, Mamaw is actually younger than that Uncle, yet she is his Aunt, as she is the sister of his father.
If you will send me your direct email, I will send you the picture of Grandpa and his death certificate. I can also put you in touch with Beth, who will gladly sell you a book.
Also, we can swap telephone numbers, etc. so we don't do so in this somewhat public forum. Mine is [email protected].
Looking forward to hearing from you.
BKB
