Hi,
Curiously, ther is an Elliott, buried in the Presbyterian cemetery whose name is John Holliday Elliott, b. 1812 i. 1/18/1906.Just another clue that there is a link between the two lines.
I contacted the research secretary at BCGS.
The following is from his notes:
"We spent some time looking at George/Elliot/Elliott.There is a Rev. George Elliot in the area who died in 1895.He is a very key figure in the Presbyterian church in this area having served at Alexandria, Kishoquillas Valley and Obisonia in Huntingdon County, Bald Eagle (near Tyrone in Blair County) and finally died at Pine Grove Mills in Centre County. We concluded he is not the father of Jane.
George B. Elliot is who we think is the father of Jane.
In the 1820 Huntingdon census George Elliot shows in Allegheny Twp. with a daughter the correct age.Based on Hoenstine's notes we believe his brother Rober is in Frankstown Township.
I have the death date of George B. Elliot as Aug. 26, 1871.
He was 85 years old according to the copy of his death record which I have in my possession.
Maybe I should try to get a copy of his obit and see if it says anything about his wife...even if she died before him...it may state her name. The BCGS will send a copy of an obit for only 2 dollars. It is a great resource. Smile.
On the Elliot side...I have George as the son of David and Mary (Sanderson) Elliott.
Grandfather Robert Elliott and Jean who came from Dublin Ireland in 1738.
Mary Sanderson b. 1745 m. David Elliott, and had sons George and Robert.
Let me know if you learn any thing new on Jane's mother.
She is mysterious at this point.
