Colonel Alexander McKinlay d. bef 1856

Looking for any information on a Colonel Alexander McKinlay. An 1856 will for a distant cousin who died in Greenock, Scotland mentioned having received a legacy from a Colonel Alexander McKinlay, so I would like to know who he is.

Is he the Alexander McKinlay who d. 1806 in Greenock and is mentioned as having worked for the Customs? I believe this Alexander married Elisbeth Campbell.

Thanks, Arthur
