James MCKINLAY-Falkirk, Scotland

Looking for anything on a James MCKINLAY who may have married a Margaret CARLAW before 1851. I know nothing about this man, not even if they were actually married. I have a marriage for Janet "Jessie" Morrison MCKINLAY, 22 Apr 1874, Polmont, Stirling, Scotland. This is the only place I have seen the MCKINLAY name used by Janet. She was born 2 Jul 1851, Falkirk. Neither the mother Margaret CARLAW nor the daughter Janet used the MCKINLAY name. Janet for some reason used MORRISON on her own daughters birth certificate and in the 1881 Census, the mother used CARLAW. So I don't even know if there was a marriage. Does anyone have a James MCKINLAY living in Falkirk around the 1850s, before and after? Any information would be a big help. Thanks
Merlyn
