Hi,
I have some McKinsters in Minnesota.I have traded some info with P. Popple before, and we're not sure yet if we are of the same family or not.
I have Duey MCKINSTER b. 1826 in NY and his wife Eliza b. 1826 in NY.They have 4 children, per the Waseca Cty. census of 1860 in Woodville (the handwriting for Duey looks like Henry, but since I knew his name I can tell what it is).The children's names are hard to make out, 1)Durem or Durain* b. abt 1852 in WI 2)Maefor V. b. abt 1853 in WI 3)Surviva? b. abt 1854 in WI 4)Ida M. b. 4/28/1859 MN
Ida Medora is my ggrandmother.*I think her first brothers name is Durain, as my Grandfather's name was Durain Dewey SKINNER.Ida married Albert A. Skinner in 1881.
I have found an M.V. MCKINSTER (Maefor V.?) later in South Dakota, in an article about early settlers of Wheatland Township, Day County, SD.Later there is a younger sister Josephine L. showing on census of 1875 for Blue Earth, MN.
I have seen the spelling as MaKinster also on the census, my own father gave it to me as MaKinster.
Also on the census for Waseca in 1860, one household before Duey and Eliza, were Eleazor age 54 and Phebe McKinster age 52, so I think this might be Duey's Father. They are the right age.I did find a marriage of Eleazor McKinster and a Phebe Gay I can't find it right now, but it is later in life and so Phebe is probably not Duey's Mother, but stepmother.
Sp let me know if these fit in with any of your Minnesota McKinsters.
