The Immigrant James Macklemore died in 1734/5, and named five sons and a daughter in his will. Next to the youngest son was Charles MacLemore, the Indian interpreter and "fur trader" you refer to in your post. He married a Cherokee woman usually reported to have been named Quatsy Wolf, and by her had two sons, John and Robert (or Robin) McLemore, though which was older is uncertain. Both of these mixed- blood men were considered minor chiefs of the Cherokees, and each signed at least one treaty (along with other chiefs) with the US.
You ask specifically about John's family. The 1817 Emigration Roll of those Cherokees who wished to voluntarily emigrate across the Mississippi River to Arkaqnsas (and eventually Oklahoma) twenty years before the Trail of Tears included both a John McLemore Sr. and a John McLemore Jr. Because the suffixes "Sr." and "Jr." were specifically used, it can reasonably be inferred that Jr. was the son of Sr. At least one or two on-line family trees for Chief John [Sr.] name a wife for him, but whether or not there was any other family is not resolved. The principal issue regarding this is the question of the parentage of "Runafter" McLemore, wife first of Col. John Lowery, by whom she had two daughters, and following his death in 1817 (probably several years thereafter), she married second John "Wagonmaster" Benge, son of Chief Robert Benge ("the Bench") and head of one of the several wagon trains that went west in the Trail of Tears, by whom she had several more children. Most descendants say she was a daughter of Robert, John's brother; however, Robert had eight children by his wife So-Kinny Smith, and Runafter is never listed as one of them. When she is listed as Robert's daughter, either no mother is given, or someone else is listed. And a few researchers list John as her father, with whom I tend to agree, but on this subjest my mind is still open, and I consider the issue unresolved.
So whether there were other children besides John Jr. and possibly Runafter is an open question, but I do not know of any. Like you, I would be very interested to know if anyone else has information on the subject, or on the subject of any descendants of John Jr.
